T-Mobile Announces Android Sidekick 4G

T-Mobile Sidekick 4g


T-Mobile has recently confirmed the new version of the Sidekick, which powered by Google’s Android OS. This ‘Sidekick reborn’ has similar form factor from the previous version, with its “pop-tilt” screen and 5-row keyboard, but will be the first Sidekick to sport a touchscreen.


The new T-Mobile Sidekick is made by Samsung. It is powered by a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor and runs Android 2.2 Froyo. The new T-Mobile Sidekick features a slide out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display plus a custom TouchWiz interface, 4G HSPA+ connectivity up to 21 Mbps, a front facing VGA camera for video chat powered by Qik and a rear facing three megapixel camera.


Othre features include Sidekick Group Text and Cloud Text for cross-platform group messaging, DriveSmart distracted driving service and will also come preloaded with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, T-Mobile TV, Samsung’s Media Hub, which will allow users to rent or purchase movies or TV shows right on the phone through carrier billing, and DriveSmart, which aims to curb texting while driving.


The new T-Mobile Sidekick will come in either matte black or pearl magenta and will only be available on T-Mobile. The 4G handset  is expected to debut later this spring, but there’s no word on pricing at the moment.
