Rovio has recently announced at the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) that the free-with-ads Android version of the popular game “Angry Birds” has surpassed 30 million downloads since its launch in October 2010. The free-with-ads Android version initially hit Android handsets in beta, topping 1 million downloads in two weeks, with the main release passing 5 million downloads back in early December.
According to Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka, 80 percent of Android users have downloaded subsequent updates, indicating that they’ve retained interest in the game. They still want to hit the green pigs more and more…
Rovio has also indicated that it will release a paid version (without in-game advertising) of its app for Android users and it is expected to launch later in March.
